What's it For?
Sometimes people come in to see me during a period of transition - starting or ending school or work, moving to a new city, beginning or leaving a relationship. Sometimes they have a hard time finding balance, or the way they see themselves and life has shifted, and they feel in flux. These moments in life can leave people feeling adrift, lost, unsure of themselves, frustrated.
Sometimes people come in because they feel like something doesn't fit, in their lives or inside of them. Maybe you find yourself feeling slightly out of step with the world around you. Or maybe you've never felt like you fit in, like you've always been peering in from the outside. Maybe this is as broad and far-reaching as being marginalized sociopolitically and having aspects of who you are rejected culturally, or as close and intimate as not feeling free to be fully yourself with the people you care about.

What I Do
I see therapy as a collaborative process to help you gain a fresh perspective on life, recognize repeating patterns in your behaviors and relationships, and find new solutions for old problems. I use an eclectic and holistic approach to provide therapy that fits you as a person and meets your needs. It's important to me to see you as a whole individual and not just a collection of symptoms or diagnoses in order for me to understand the way you see the world and to truly have anything to offer you.
My style is warm, empathic, and non-judgmental. I listen more than I talk, but I promise I won't just sit there in silence the whole time either. I frequently ask questions, which at different times may be for clarification, to reexamine something you said, or to guide the conversation toward something that seems important. I provide structure with flexibility. I'm open to exploring everything and anything - your dreams, fantasies, sexual activities, and even what's going on between the two of us in our therapeutic relationship - if I think it might offer some insight that you can use to your benefit.
